Expectations.

Different conditions warrant different expectations.

Today

Patience is a result.

Of realistic expectations. Of the market you see and the YOU who showed up.

Impatience is the gap between expectations, present market conditions and the SELF.

Expectations derive from influences internal and external to the SELF.

One · Movement

Move first.

Movement shifts energy. With intention it may ground and calm the system. Often the body settles faster than the mind.

Start with a forward fold. Let the head hang heavy and feel the weight go down through the feet. Then roll up slowly, one vertebra at a time.

Follow the sequence from toe to head.

The sequence
01
Toes. Expand and contract.
02
Ankles. Rotate, then pedal.
03
Lower leg. Kick outs.
04
Upper leg. Figure four, or knee hugs.
05
Torso. Twist, then side body.
06
Chest. Hands by the ears, open and close the elbows.
07
Shoulders. Shrug, then circles.
08
Arms. Swing, then circles.
09
Forearms and wrists. Stretch, then wrist circles.
10
Fingers. Expand and contract.
11
Neck. Gentle stretch, opposite hand to the side of the head. Then turn the head.

All of it works from the chair. Follow along live, or move at whatever pace your body asks for.

Two · Breath work

The pause supports patience.

Four counts in. Eight counts out. Then stillness for the rest of the minute.

The remainder is the practice. During different times the urge to fill the silence and calm may reveal itself.

Observe what arrives in the additional space. Let it float on by without attachment or judgement.

Three · Read yourself

The YOU who showed up.

Yourself first, so the market stays out of the reading.

Four · Read the market

The conditions in front of you.

What it is actually doing today.

What this condition offers

Five · Set it

Today's expectation.

From both readings and written down before the open.

Rate the partnership. How well is it a match today

MISMATCHALIGNED

Low on this scale, go to Six and choose from the list instead.

The one thing that would make this a good day

Six · When it is a mismatch

Somewhere else to put it.

Some days the market has little to offer. Some days you have little to give. Either one is a mismatch and forcing it is expensive.

Have the list ready before you need it. Five things worth your time when the screens are the wrong place to be.

A patient self aware trader is one whose expectations match their market conditions.
